NIH Terminated Grants

In March, U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Peter Welch (D-VT) hosted a forum titled "Cures in Crisis: What Gutting NIH Research Means for Americans with Cancer, Alzheimer's, & Other Diseases." The event featured testimonies from Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, the former Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), two Alzheimer’s researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Emory University, and two patients who benefited from NIH clinical trials. The forum focused on how NIH budget cuts, staff layoffs, and delayed funding could negatively affect vital research and treatment outcomes for diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's, ALS, and others.
